Tax Services Disclosure and Affiliation Statement

  1. Overview

Dahl Law Corporation, doing business as Dahl Law Group (“DLG”), and Dahl Tax Group LLC (“DTG”) are separate and independent legal entities that collaborate closely to provide coordinated legal and tax services to clients. While both entities share a common commitment to comprehensive and integrated client service, each operates under distinct ownership, regulatory, and professional frameworks.

The use of the shared email domain @tqdlaw.com and coordinated communication systems is solely for administrative convenience and to enhance the client experience. Such use does not create a single business entity, partnership, or joint venture between DLG and DTG.

  1. Nature of Services

DLG is a California professional law corporation that provides legal services exclusively through licensed attorneys. These services include estate planning, business law, asset protection, succession planning, legal tax research, and related legal strategy.

DTG, on the other hand, is a California limited liability company that provides tax preparation, tax filing, and tax strategy services. Any tax strategy implementation services that require legal work by a licensed attorney will be performed by DLG. DTG is not a professional accounting corporation or accountancy entity under California law and does not engage in activities requiring licensure under California Business and Professions Code section 5051(f) through (i), inclusive. DTG’s work is performed in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and involve a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) working within the firm’s permissible scope of practice.

All tax preparation, tax filing, and related tax strategy services are performed exclusively by DTG. Legal services—including legal advice, entity formation, and legal interpretation of tax law—are provided solely by DLG.

  1. Affiliation Between the Entities

DLG and DTG are affiliated entities by virtue of shared ownership, management, and operational collaboration. Tyler Q. Dahl is the owner of Dahl Law Corporation dba Dahl Law Group and also a part owner of Dahl Tax Group LLC. The two entities maintain a collaborative working relationship designed to provide clients with a seamless experience when legal and tax needs overlap.

This affiliation allows clients to benefit from integrated planning—where legal structures and tax outcomes are coordinated for maximum efficiency and compliance—while maintaining strict separation of professional responsibilities as required by law.

  1. Information Sharing and Client Consent

To deliver coordinated legal and tax services efficiently, certain limited information sharing occurs between DLG and DTG. This occurs only with the client’s informed written consent and in accordance with applicable confidentiality and professional conduct rules.

Under the Informed Consent for Information Sharing signed by each client, DLG may disclose specific non-privileged information to DTG as necessary for the performance of tax preparation, filing, and strategy work. This typically includes:

  • Entity formation documents
  • Legal organizational charts
  • Completed estate planning documents (such as trusts or assignments)
  • Other relevant instruments necessary for accurate tax reporting

DLG does not share confidential internal notes, client communications, or privileged legal analyses with DTG. This careful boundary ensures that attorney-client privilege remains protected while allowing both entities to collaborate efficiently in the client’s best interest.

DTG may also share specific information with DLG. For example, if tax strategy services reveal that setting up another legal entity would be beneficial to the client, then this information would be communicated to DLG so the legal team can create the legal entity.

  1. Privilege and Professional Protections

Communications regarding legal services with DLG are protected by attorney-client privilege and the attorney work-product doctrine. However, communications regarding tax preparation, filing, or other tax services with DTG are not privileged unless expressly covered under a written Kovel agreement between the client, DLG, and DTG.

Clients should be aware that the scope of privilege and confidentiality may differ depending on whether the communication relates to legal services or tax services. Each client engagement clearly identifies which entity is responsible for the specific services being provided.

  1. Engagement Agreements and Billing

Clients engaging DLG for legal services will receive an Engaegment Agreement and invoices from the Dahl Law Group.

Clients engaging DTG for tax services will receive an Engagement Agreement and invoices from Dahl Tax Group LLC.

Each entity maintains its own separate professional liability insurance, financial accounts, and operational policies.
